Manager of Safer Supply Program

1.0 FTE Contract to March 31, 2025
Thunder Bay Site

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community-based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking 1 FTE Contract Manager of Safer Supply, who, as a valuable member of the Community Health Centre team, will oversee the Safer Supply Program. As a progressive leader committed to anti-oppression, harm reduction, cultural awareness, and responsiveness in working with diverse populations, you will welcome this opportunity to develop as a leader and the responsibility to lead a significant community program. The successful candidate understands program development and implementation and will oversee all aspects of the program.

The position has a competitive salary, and the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan is an optional benefit.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant discipline and/or related experience
  • 3-5 years of experience supervising, training, and coaching staff.
  • 2-3 years in managing in a social services setting, strong priority will be given to individuals with program development expertise.
  • Broad knowledge, background, and interest in the practice of community health, addictions, and harm reduction.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of a multicultural community and diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working across all genders with racialized populations, indigenous peoples, individuals who engage in sex work, individuals who are or have been incarcerated, people with mental health challenges, and people who have experienced trauma.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues, particularly within individuals who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured),
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
