What to Expect:
As the Regulatory Affairs Specialist, your role involves supporting a Nestlé product category, providing strategic regulatory guidance and ensuring compliance for finished products, raw materials, labelling, and product-related communications for local Innovation and Renovation projects and product launches.

A day in the life:
You will collaborate closely with the marketing team, actively providing regulatory guidance, ensuring compliance and looking for claims to gain a competitive edge. You'll be an integral part of the Regulatory & Consumer Wellness Team, contributing to various projects and serving as a Subject Matter Expert on relevant topics to enhance our functional deliverables continuously.

  • Active contributor to local Innovation and Renovation (I&R) projects and support Canadian market launches.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of formulations, raw materials and finished products, labelling and any brand communication to consumers and healthcare professionals by working in close collaboration with Marketing, Technical Application Group, Quality, Consumer Wellness, Legal, US and global counterparts.
  • Knowledge translation of complex technical, regulatory, and scientific information into simple key messages for internal stakeholders, particularly marketing.
  • Approve all product related claims and coordinate substantiation dossiers where required. Provide regulatory support and guidance to local and global internal networks.
  • Keep abreast of the Canadian regulatory environment and significant international developments from health agencies, scientific authorities and international standard setting organizations and sharing this regulatory knowledge internally.
  • Keep abreast and proactively communicate emerging scientific and regulatory trends (products, ingredients, claims) that can unlock growth opportunities and drive competitive advantage.

Role Requirements

  • University degree in science or related discipline is required. Advanced degree, post-graduate Diploma or Certificate from a Regulatory Affairs program or Nutrition is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs in food and beverage regulations. Familiarity with the Food and Drugs Act and Food and Drugs Regulations is essential, as well as the Safe Foods for Canadians Act and Regulations.
  • Applied knowledge in at least one of the regulatory related topics such as food safety, consumer information, nutrition & health, sustainability, additives, or quality.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge and experience in nutrition, product formulations (raw materials through finished products) and advertising standards in a scientific and regulatory context.
  • Exceptional organizational & efficiency skills – ability to multi-task, create detailed plans, monitor progress, follow-up and meet deadlines and flag risks and opportunities.
  • Demonstrates initiative and is proactive; ability to work independently, anticipate needs and can communicate in a strong and effective manner.
