Talent Acquisition Specialist

This position will manage the full recruitment cycle process for all roles across the organization from entry-level to management-level to help our client source and hire great talent. This includes developing new attraction strategies, sourcing and managing candidate pipelines, interviewing, offer negotiation, reference/background checks and assisting with onboarding. This position will also have the opportunity to contribute to broader HR related projects and initiatives as time permits.
The Talent Acquisition Specialist is a key partner to the business and must exercise the highest degree of professionalism while operating as an ambassador for the organization.
Key Duties & Responsibilities- Working with the Sr. HR Generalist and Management team to identify hiring needs, developing and updating job descriptions and posting opportunities using various methods (online job boards, newspaper, etc.);
- Engaging in active recruitment efforts, sourcing and contacting potential candidates who aren’t actively seeking new employment;
- Shortlisting candidates, conducting phone screens, and scheduling interviews with the hiring manager(s) or supervisor(s);
- Developing standard interview question templates or guides and job-related pre-employment candidate testing (ie. computer literacy, mechanical aptitude);
- Arranging and/or conducting pre-employment checks such as references and criminal background checks;
- Preparing and presenting employment offers and related documents, negotiating with candidates to obtain a positive outcome;
- Assisting with new employee orientations;
- Reporting on recruitment statistics including open headcount, start dates, time to fill vs. target;
- Recommending, developing and implementing human resources programs and services in the area of recruitment and retention;
- Maintaining compliance with federal and provincial regulations concerning employment;
- Conducting exit interviews and reporting trends to management;
- Supporting pay equity initiatives;
- Participating in and supporting Human Resources projects, when required;
- Maintaining all recruitment-related forms and documents to IATF:16949 standards;
- Other duties, as required.
Incumbent must exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment in the daily activities of the position. Minimal supervision, direction is provided on policy matters only.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies- Significant knowledge of the hiring process and a strong understanding of employment best practices and current legislative requirements.
- An undergraduate degree in Human Resources or related field;
- Self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to relay job opportunities to prospective employees in a positive and engaging manner.
- Above-average written and oral communication skills.
- Able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality with excellent judgement and problem-solving skills.
