Our Technology, Intellectual Property, and Privacy Group is seeking an energetic, team-oriented, and entrepreneurial Associate to join the team in our Vancouver office.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with and learn from an outstanding group of talented, well-rounded IP lawyers, as well as lawyers from our other practice areas across our national platform. Their primary practice will focus on all aspects of patent, industrial design, and trademark prosecution and portfolio management, including:
- Patent drafting and prosecution of Canadian and foreign applications,
- Preparation and prosecution of industrial design applications,
- Preparation and prosecution of trademark applications, including opposition proceedings, and
- Advising clients on the strategic management and commercialization of their IP portfolios.
Their practice will also involve:
- Reviewing and/or drafting IP agreements, licensing agreements and other related intellectual property agreements, and
- Completing intellectual property due diligence and risk analysis in M&A transactions.

The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 3 years relevant patent drafting and prosecution experience,
- Preferably passed the Patent Agent Qualifying Exam, or successfully completed 1 or more papers of the Exam,
- A background, degree, or other applicable technical experience, in computer science, chemistry, physics, optics, material science, life science, or other technical discipline,
- Excellent communication skills and be highly motivated and comfortable working with colleagues across our national platform,
- Proven client management skills,
- Excellent academic credentials, and
- A license to practice law in a Canadian jurisdiction.
Base annual salary is $135,000 +. Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
