Technical Director

Kingston, Canada Blue Canoe Theatrical Productions Inc. Full time

The Technical Director may set some of their own hours, in collaboration with the managing director and/or general manager, as needed to carry out their responsibilities. Evenings and weekends will apply. The Technical Director is to manage their time appropriately when these situations arise in order to stay within the outlined hours per week. The Managing Director should be consulted with regard to hour adjustment if needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Managing Director in the creation of production and technical schedules.
  • Attend all production meetings.
  • Provide mentorship and support to volunteer production team members.
  • Assess the technical needs of all events and productions.
  • Acquire all necessary technical equipment and resources needed for production and events.
  • Lead set up and tear down of Blue Canoe, Juvenis, Launchpoint Academy productions and events as needed.
  • Assist in the maintenance of Blue Canoe equipment and studio space.

Education & Experience

  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Experience and understanding of Theatre is an asset.
  • Strong experience or education in technical theatre is required.
  • Experience and/or deep understanding of Blue Canoe Productions’ mandate, vision and values is an important asset.

Requirements

  • KPIC for the Vulnerable Sector
  • Valid First Aid/ CPR-C certificate
  • Working at Heights training is an asset.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 10 per week

  • Weekends as needed
