The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) is seeking a Senior Director Operations to lead the vision, direction, and leadership of the Division. This role requires corporate responsibility for the Division's mandate, which presents high risk for the organization or impacts the organization's financial position.
Key Responsibilities:- Leadership and Vision: Promote the WSIB's vision and values, ensuring that management and employees understand and share them.
- Strategic Planning: Participate in the development of a shared vision for the Division, adhering to modern controllership principles.
- Business Planning: Assist in the engagement of the management team in delivering the vision through the development and execution of the annual business plan and divisional goals and objectives.
- Program Management: Provide leadership and direction in the management and delivery of programs and services, ensuring required programs and policies, and standards and performance expectations are established, and service levels are maintained.
- Quality Management: Support quality management and continuous improvement programs as established, evaluating the effectiveness and cost-benefit of services and programs.
- Financial Planning: Participate in the planning of the financial, physical, and human assets of the Division, including the annual operating and capital budgets.
- Human Resources: Ensure effective organization, resourcing, and management of human resources within the reporting line.
- Health and Safety: Ensure effective health and safety management systems and programs are developed, implemented, and monitored.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain active interaction and dialogue with other WSIB leaders and employees to assess and discuss business and organizational issues, their implications and potential solutions, and to promote an effective team approach to the attainment of corporate goals and objectives.
- Expertise and Leadership: Act as a senior expert providing functional leadership and technical expertise to Vice Presidents and to Directors on matters relating to the professional area of expertise and divisional initiatives and activities.
- Strategic Initiatives: Participate as a member of the senior management committee in the review, planning, development, and implementation of Board-wide initiatives, strategies, and programs, creating trust and exemplifying teamwork and the values of the organization.
- Project Management: Provide sponsorship to and/or manage inter-divisional projects on behalf of the organization at large and ensure they are successful and achieve the outcomes required to support the overall strategy of the organization.
- External Relationships: Establish and maintain effective relationships with appropriate external contractors or business partners, such as other workers' compensation boards, government agencies, stakeholders, and industry groups and organizations as directed by the Vice President.
Education: Undergraduate university degree and significant experience in developing and delivering programs.
Experience: 10+ years of progressively more responsible leadership and management positions in a large complex organization dealing with insurance and/or disability management and/or public sector management and services. Public sector experience preferred and/or experience working in large organizations with exposure to varied stakeholders.
