Founded over 35 years ago by a family, we are supported by Axel Johnson Inc (AJI), an investment firm that enables us to pursue growth and explore new avenues.

Our clients, ranging from blue-chip international corporations to mid-sized producers, are the reason for our existence. Our teams of innovators, communicators, and managers are dedicated to meeting their needs, building trust, and surpassing expectations.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Director of Quality Assurance for our Ontario facility, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This leadership position entails full accountability for food safety and product quality, ensuring that our manufacturing plants uphold the highest standards. You will manage all facets of quality assurance across our facilities in Ontario and Indiana, including product testing, quality control protocols, regulatory adherence, and ongoing improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is currently a Director of QA or a QA Manager in a large-scale facility within the food and beverage sector. As a thought leader and advocate for continuous improvement, you excel in dynamic environments. Your commitment to excellence drives you to enhance quality at every stage of production. You believe that quality is a collective responsibility and have successfully established processes and implemented quality programs that foster engagement and ensure compliance with the highest standards.

Benefits of the Role

As a key player in our organization, you will have the autonomy to influence our standing as a leading manufacturer of intricate food ingredients and products for globally recognized brands. You will be empowered to build, mentor, and develop a team of effective leaders who will inspire their teams to embrace quality assurance as a core principle in their daily operations.

Your impact will be significant as you join the operations leadership team, collaborating with Plant Managers, the Head of Engineering, and Continuous Improvement to integrate quality assurance as a fundamental aspect of our corporate culture.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of quality by promoting the belief that quality is everyone's responsibility and overseeing the training and education of all plant personnel.
  • Enhance and implement quality assurance solutions by developing and executing strategies, policies, and procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to spearhead continuous improvement initiatives and elevate product quality and safety.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in quality assurance within food and beverage manufacturing, with a proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Technical expertise in thermal processing techniques and a comprehensive understanding of sanitation systems.
  • A results-driven mindset focused on achieving quality objectives and advancing business success.
  • Experience in managing a QA team, fostering high performance, quality, and efficiency.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects from inception to completion while adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to a non-technical audience.

Why Choose Us?

At Skjodt-Barrett Foods, we believe that actions speak louder than words. Each day, we unite to exceed the expectations of our customers, colleagues, and ourselves, guided by our core values:

  • We care about family, honesty, and respect.
  • We communicate effectively and clearly at all levels.
  • We empower our team with trust, integrity, and accountability.
  • We deliver results through teamwork, innovation, and commitment.

The potential for growth and impact within our company and for our employees is substantial.
