POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Globe and Mail is seeking a full-time reporter based in our Ottawa bureau. As part of the team covering federal politics and national news, this reporter must have the ability to speak French.

This is an opportunity for a driven and ambitious journalist who wants to play a key role in our political coverage. The successful candidate will be a proven self-starter who can write broadly and with authority on Canadian politics. We are looking for a seasoned reporter with a demonstrated ability to break news, produce clear and compelling enterprise pieces and develop high-impact coverage. Curiosity, versatility and collaboration are a must.

The successful candidate will work with reporters at the Ottawa bureau as well as other areas of the newsroom and across the country.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Frequently pitch compelling story ideas
  2. Develop sources to break news and produce exclusive stories
  3. Write clearly and on deadline
  4. Collaborate with reporters and editors across the newsroom

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least six years experience as a reporter in a daily news organization
  • Fluent in French
  • Interest and experience covering politics
