Job Title: Financial Planning and Reporting Lead

Job Summary:

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Financial Planning and Reporting Lead to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring sound financial management and providing advice to upper management to support long-term strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Budget Administration: Oversee the administration of budgets to ensure compliance with established policies and analyze financial statements against budgets for various types of funds to identify and address inconsistencies.
  • Financial Transaction Processes: Oversee ongoing financial transaction processes for the sector, ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Purchasing and Payroll: Act as approval agent for procurement of goods and services for the sector and oversee the verification of payroll reports for all employee groups within the sector.
  • Process Improvement: Design and implement new or modify existing work methods, procedures, and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and analyze various reports on cost/benefit analyses and financial performance of the sector.

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles through postsecondary studies or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software including financial systems and spreadsheets.
  • Professional accounting designation is an asset.
  • Experience in supervision and strategic planning.
  • Experience in budget planning, control, and analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written).
