**Position purpose**:
Reporting to the Director, Financial Accounting, plans, organizes and coordinates all activities carried out by the financial analysts to ensure accurate and timely recording and communication of all University of Ottawa financial results and to provide support related to the financial system and general ledger. Produces financial statements and related reports and is responsible for overseeing complex financial analyses and financial audits to ensure sound management of the University's financial data.

This is a 3-year contract opportunity. We work in a hybrid environment and we come on-site three days per week. The posting will remain open until the position is filled.

**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:

- Plans, organizes, and coordinates the year-end closing by contacting faculties, services, and external auditors. In accordance with current Canadian accounting standards, oversees the preparation, review, and analysis of: the University’s annual audited financial statements; its two pension plans; its two numbered companies; and all other financial reviews conducted by third parties. Coordinates the preparation of the University’s regular internal financial statements.
- Supervision: Supervises a team of financial analysts responsible for producing financial statements, financial reports, and surveys and for consolidating financial information and student accounts. Plans and organizes the team’s activities to balance the workload and ensure that operational deadlines are met. Reviews, prioritizes, delegates responsibilities, and provides guidance on the tasks to be completed.
- Accounting operations: Reviews, reflects on, evaluates, and implements internal processes to ensure the integrity and reliability of the financial information produced by the financial analysts. Recommends ways to optimize financial operations and meet Canadian accounting standards. Approves and validates accounting entries made by financial analysts. Implements effective work methods and ensures collaboration with other financial resource units. Coordinates the production of analyses and reports in a timely manner.
- Payroll reconciliation and benefits: Coordinates accountants’ operations regarding payroll reconciliation and benefits, and confirms variances and explanations added. Approves agreements in place and coordinates recovery of payroll expenditures and benefits from various organizations for staff on secondment, to ensure timely collection according to established guidelines.

**What you will bring**:

- Chartered professional accountant designation (CPA)
- University degree in accounting or finance from a recognized university
- Minimum seven years’ related experience in financial resource management, including three years of human resource management
- In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Ability to write structured reports according to established criteria
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- Excellent ability to analyze, synthesize and solve complex problems
- Autonomy, initiative, tact and diplomacy as well as strong organizational, time management and multitasking skills with ability to meet deadlines
- Bilingualism - French and English (spoken and written)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: $95,745.00-$116,554.00 per year
