Title: Manufacturing Supervisor

Reports to: Manufacturing Manager

Hours: 11:00p.m. to 7:00a.m.

Location: 24 Napoleon Road, Barrie, Ontario

Job Purpose:

Achieve results through the action of others by supervising and coordinating the activities of Associates who are involved in the production within their departments.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  1. Execute the production plan through effective use of Associates and equipment.
  2. Develop and implement improvement plans for safety (JHSC Inspection Report), quality, and productivity (recommend labour needs).
  3. Promote and maintain 5S methodology and ISO-9001 procedures.
  4. Communicate, support, and implement the policies and procedures of the Company through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Prepare reports as required to meet the Company’s and the legal standards.
  6. Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, ISO, and all Government legislation including the Human Rights Code, OHSA, and ESA.
  7. Hold weekly meetings to discuss actual to planned production. Set attainable goals for each area/department and challenge Associates to meet or better the goals.
  8. Complete performance reviews as required.
  9. Issue Team Leaders the daily morning meeting minutes for discussion with their areas of responsibility.
  10. Mentor and coach Team Leaders and Associates.
  11. Develop and maintain training matrices.
  12. Support Company vision and business plan.
  13. Monitor and administer coaching to enforce Company policies and procedures.
Education and Experience:
  1. Must have a High School Diploma; College or University Degree is preferred.
  2. Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Supervisory role obtained in a production/manufacturing environment; steel fabrication experience preferred.
  3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as Visual Manufacturing or another type of ERP/MRP system.
  4. Must have a good understanding of manufacturing principles.
  5. Prior support in an internal Safety Committee (JHSC) is preferred.
  6. Strong working knowledge and compliance with employment legislation including ESA, OHSA, Human Rights, etc.
  7. Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
  8. Proven ability to coach, facilitate, solve work-related issues and participate in the work of the team.
  9. Lean manufacturing knowledge is paramount.
