About us: The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is a health-care community dedicated to improving the health of children. Our mission is to provide the best in family-centred, compassionate care, to lead in scientific and clinical advancement, and to prepare the next generation of leaders in child health.

The Department of Dentistry is a specialized service for the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with dental disease and related issues. The department is the largest facial cleft and craniofacial center in Canada and is led by an experienced team of paediatric dentists, orthodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, prosthodontists, and endodontists.

The members of the department are committed to excellence in child health through improved access to care, innovation, research and education.

What we’re looking for: a part-time staff oral and maxillofacial surgeon for the Department of Dentistry at SickKids, located at 555 University Avenue, Toronto.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Providing care to patients and supervision of trainees in the ambulatory clinics and operating room, as well as after-hours on call support of trainees.
  • Working collaboratively and providing support to the dental team (clinical and administrative staff) through effective communication, meeting attendance and participation, continuous improvement suggestions, etc.

Work expectations are 2 days per month at SickKids to fulfill these responsibilities; with additional clinic and OR resources available to meet patient demands.

Other benefits:

Ongoing support of your professional development, conference attendance and associated necessary travel will be provided under departmental guidelines; time off will be provided to use for conferences, meetings, invited lectures or vacation.

Qualifications:

  • Certified specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Registered as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Oral and maxillofacial surgery fellowships and/or residencies considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated professionalism as a clinical resource, coach and a role model.
  • Ability to facilitate learning in others.
  • Ability to provide supportive feedback to others.
Our Commitment to Diversity

The children and families we care for are from a variety of communities, and so are our employees. We welcome and encourage everyone to join our organization and be part of our team.

When requested, SickKids will provide access and inclusion supports to eligible candidates to support their full engagement during the interview and assessment process. Information received related to access or inclusion will be addressed confidentially.

Thank you for your interest in joining SickKids. Only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. In accordance with our Hospital policy, employment at SickKids is conditional upon the Hospital’s receipt of all necessary documentation.
