Position Overview:

The primary function of the Technology Support Specialist, reporting to the Customer Support & Training Manager, is to provide technical troubleshooting, break/fix support, and customer training for a diverse range of technologies. This includes software and hardware supplied by Trimble, Caterpillar, UAV suppliers, and proximity detection suppliers. The specialist will play a critical role in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, ensuring continuous uptime and reliability for customer technologies. Additionally, the role includes imparting technical training to end-users, enhancing their ability to effectively utilize these advanced technology solutions.

Job Description:
  • Advanced Technical Support: Act as the primary troubleshooter for complex issues across a wide range of advanced technologies including Trimble, Caterpillar, UAV systems, and proximity detection devices. This role involves diagnosing technical problems, implementing effective solutions, and ensuring high availability and reliability of customer technologies to minimize downtime.
  • Customer and End-User Training: Provide training sessions for customers and end-users on the operation and maintenance of technology products, ensuring they are equipped to use technologies effectively.
  • Sales Support Collaboration: Work with Technology Sales Representatives to evaluate customer needs during consultations and contribute to developing tailored technology solutions.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with the administration of assigned tooling as well as products.
  • Internal Training: Conduct training for team members to enhance their product knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
  • Performance Reporting: Analyze and report on product performance, identifying trends in failures and serviceability issues to improve future service quality.
  • Field Coordination: Coordinate with co-workers, ensuring they have all necessary case details for efficient diagnosis and repair at customer sites.
  • Expertise Maintenance: Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of industry-leading products, including advanced software such as Business Center HCE and machine guidance systems.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years in surveying, civil construction, mining operations, or related engineering fields.
  • Preferred Education: A technical diploma or certificate in Civil Engineering or Geomatics. Relevant work experience can be considered as an alternative.
  • Specialized Training: Formal training in presentation and training techniques is beneficial.
  • Technical Proficiency: Required expertise in using Trimble Office software products, including Business Center.
  • Travel Requirement: 30-40% Travel is required for this region.
