What You'll Be Doing

You will be responsible for generating business for CIBC’s Equities business collaborating with the broader Equity Sales team, Equity Trading and our Energy Research team while also working in partnership with other Global Markets businesses, ECM and Investment Banking. The role requires strong relationships and relationship building skills across both the Canadian energy corporate landscape as well as energy institutional investors in a highly competitive market. The successful candidate will serve as one of CIBC’s focal points for energy, energy infrastructure and, in time, energy transition intelligence and IP.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Client engagement - Driving commission growth across institutional accounts by actively engaging energy specialists and key generalist clients across the institutional landscape in Canada, the US and RoW. Provide them with our Energy and Energy Infrastructure research, current information and advice while also gathering market intelligence and sharing it internally

  • Relationship building - Initiate, maintain and deepen senior, strategic corporate relationships in concert with Equity Research, IB, ECM and other teams

  • Market knowledge - Gather, interpret and share energy-focused intelligence from corporate, industry, and investment sources with our Energy and Energy Infrastructure Equity Research and Sales teams and contribute to our energy franchise and IP

  • Product knowledge - Proactively cross-sell Global Markets and Capital Markets products and support the efforts of other business groups

  • Leadership - Provide leadership for energy focused corporate access priorities / events

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate 5+ years in industry sales experience. You have energy-focused Canada, US and International market knowledge along with energy industry-specific knowledge (finance and energy)

  • You have a relevant university degree in addition to CSC & CPH

  • You’re passionate about people. Strong relationship building skills is a must

  • You possess strong organizational skills

  • You are technically savvy. Exhibit creativity and independent thought in developing / refining investment ideas
