Beginning in Spring 2024, The YMCA will operate the Childcare Resource & Referral (CCRR) program for communities across the Central Okanagan. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Community and Employment Services, the Community Services Manager will oversee programs that provide information, support, resources and referral services to families, childcare professionals, and childcare providers through the delivery of the CCRR program.

  • To provide child care information, consultations and referrals to families
  • Provide strong customer service and support to those individuals and organizations utilizing the services of the CCRR program
  • To provide referrals to community programs, services and resources
  • Plan and implement outreach activities for childcare providers and families
  • Provide consultation, networking, training, and resource development for childcare providers
  • To provide outreach visits and presentations to community partner organizations
  • Facilitate workshops, courses, and programming for childcare providers, early childhood educators and parents
  • Recruit, register and conduct home visits of registered License Not Required Family Childcare providers
  • Support and assistance in accessing the Toy Lending library
  • To facilitate in-person and virtual workshops
  • To know, understand and maintain all BC Government CCRR Program Standards
  • To ensure all Provincial Program Standards, YMCA Policies and Procedures, and legal requirements, are met
  • Promotes philanthropy and volunteerism through the YMCA
We’d love to hear with people with:
  • Early Childhood Educator Certificate required
  • Infant/Toddler Educator Special Needs Educator Certificates are an asset
  • Additional courses/training related to child growth and development as asset
  • 3 years experience in childcare including direct experience working with children
  • Current First Aid certificate required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage time effectively in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Ability to speak additional languages is an asset
  • Experience with developing community based programming and working in collaboration with other community agencies and service providers
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolutions skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and decisions; effective prioritizing and problem solving
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in a high demand environment
  • Administrative experience, background in customer service, computers and general office procedures
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required

Compensation:
  • Starting wage of $21.48 – $23.35, dependent on experience
  • Membership for self and family to YMCA facilities
  • Paid vacation, wellness days, and family responsibility time
  • Extended health and dental benefits
  • Annual Y pension of 5% (after 2 years)
