About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Half Moon Pizzeria Ltd. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the kitchen, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
  • Supply Management: Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas, ensuring that all items are properly labeled and stored.
  • Waste Management: Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and ensure that all waste is disposed of in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner.
  • Food Preparation: Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits, as well as other tasks as required.
  • Team Support: Provide support to other kitchen staff members, including assisting with food preparation, plating, and presentation.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Assist with the immediate settlement needs of newcomers and refugees, including housing, transportation, storage, childcare, and winter clothing.
  • Social and Labour Market Integration: Support the social and labour market integration of newcomers and refugees, including facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
  • Youth Support: Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth, as well as mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities.
  • Veteran Support: Provide mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for veterans, as well as assist with their immediate transition needs.
  • Indigenous Support: Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers, as well as provide cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees.
  • Mature Worker Support: Provide phased retirement options, including flexible or reduced work hours, part-time employment, project-based or seasonal work, and workspace accommodations.
  • Visible Minority Support: Apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities, and provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment.
