What you'll be doing
You will join a small team of multi-skilled professionals to develop, implement and execute a comprehensive approach to auditing the Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) portfolio. You will build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal colleagues within Internal Audit and business partners across all three lines of defense. You will promote compliance with CIBC policies and procedures, standards, guidelines, and relevant legislation.

How you'll succeed
Project coordination/expertise – You will lead the tracking of detailed project plans that effectively incorporate appropriate risks, scope, staffing requirements, timelines, budgets and business partner coordination as required. You will support the development of procedures, roles and responsibilities, standards and best practices that exemplify high standards of accuracy, rigor, and credibility and according to regulations and industry standards.
Audit effectiveness – Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan, track and execute activities and effectively manage multiple activities at different stages to ensure completion within required timelines. Communicate regularly on progress and issues and review work to ensure a high level of quality and compliance with audit standards.
Audit reporting – Support the production of periodic summary reports where you objectively assess and convey the adequacy of the audit work completed in that period in a clear, concise and professional way.
Communication - Demonstrate clear, concise and influential written and verbal communication skills when issuing strategy documents, recommendations and audit memos, discussing audit findings, resolving conflicts or interacting with CIBC executives, regulators and external auditors.
Who you are

You are a certified professional. Typically, this knowledge is acquired through obtaining an auditing or accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, ACCA, CIA), a business degree (e.g., MBA), in addition to business experience either in the banking or financial services industry or internal / external audit assurance and consulting services.
You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You are confident using data analytics tools (e.g. Excel) to identify areas for enhanced testing and in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
You are passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships and surround yourself with a diverse network of partners. You build trust through respect and authenticity.
You are driven by collective success. You know that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one. You understand the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to bring a shared vision to life.
Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values – trust, teamwork, and accountability.
