About the roleOur growing team is looking for a Manager, Platform Engineering We are seeking an experienced and visionary manager to lead and build our Platform Engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and managing scalable cloud-based & infrastructure solutions that align with our strategic objectives. Location: Montreal, Saint-Hyacinthe, or Toronto.
Hybrid: We believe in the power of collaboration and innovation that comes from working together in person. For this role, we require to be in the office three days per week.
What you'll do here:
- Build and manage Cloud & Infrastructure engineering teams, to design and implement cloud-based & Infrastructure solutions.
- Coach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, product owners, and senior leadership to translate our vision into a tangible roadmap on a quarterly basis.
- Break down complex projects into smaller pieces and lead the iterative design and implementation process.
- Be a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aiding in diligent architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality everything as a code and engineering processes.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
- Contribute to and take ownership of processes that drive engineering quality and meet our engineering SLAs.
- Work closely with the engineers in the SRE team offering support and guidance.
What you need:
- Bachelor's/master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
- 7+ years related experience working within Cloud infrastructure.
- 5+ years of experience in Cloud & Infrastructure engineering.
- Experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing Cloud solutions on different hyperscale platforms.
- Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected framework.
- An execution-focused mindset, capable of navigating through ambiguity and delivering results.
- An ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term planning.
- Certified Architect – AWS-GCP-Azure.
- Strong grasp of networking fundamentals, including VPC setup, VPN configuration, and routing concepts.
- Experience with IaC tools & DevOps experience using GIT HUB/GIT REPO.
- Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, containerization, networking, big data, machine learning, Gen AI.
- Knowledge of web services, API, REST, and RPC.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Adept at driving the design and delivery of robust cloud solutions while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Skilled in cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, and software development with a deep understanding of Cloud Computing models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
- Results-oriented professional with a proven track record in managing and leading high-performing Engineering teams of Cloud & Infrastructure.
- No Canadian work experience required; however, must be eligible to work in Canada.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
