System Technical Lead
JOB SUMMARY:
A Product Technical Lead requires advanced formal engineering, training and experience, system analysis skills to lead project planning, development, certification as per aerospace standards. Responsibilities include interfacing between customers and design teams to formalise the requirements; generate the plans, interface and design documents; and perform architecture design and safety analysis according to company and engineering department processes; and lead the engineering teams throughout the product development, verification and qualification phases – to completion of the product development until “ready” for manufacturing. Excellent communication skills will be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for ensuring that systems engineering tasks are performed in accordance with Safran Electronics and Defense Canada engineering procedures.
- Responsible for certification process, manage and/or generate systems engineering related documentation that include ARP4754A/DO-254/DO-178/DO-160/RAMS plans, high level design, technical requirements documents, Interface Control Documents, test requirements, test plans, methods of compliance and present to internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform Environmental and EMI/EMC (DO-160) requirement analysis and support qualification testing and results analysis.
- Collaborate with designers within cross functional teams (hardware/electrical and software) to develop the required designs/products and guide integration of sub-systems.
- Continually participate and support program risk assessment and mitigation.
- Analyze and solve any detected problems within a team setting; Effectively lead all technical aspects of a development program to produce a product that meets customer requirements; Competence to perform validation and verification of the product at systems, hardware and software levels.
- Perform causal/root cause analysis of detected problems and mitigate them.
- Plan and conduct product technical/customer/Quality/Audit reviews and testing activities, reports and documentation.
- Effectively plan, manage and achieve all the design goals and milestones of the product development program.
- Support existing programs to meet other customer requirements including conduct of technical investigations, integration development, and program review meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience with embedded control systems preferably in the commercial aviation industry for Engines, Nose Wheel Steering, and Landing Gear control.
- Competence in ARP4754A, ARP4761 processes.
- Competence in DO-160, DO-178, DO-254 processes.
- Experience in requirements management tools such as DOORS, ReqView etc.
- Competence in avionics/aerospace product development and project engineering principles, methods and practices including knowledge of Configuration Management and Quality Assurance practice.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements of CGP (or ITAR if required by a project).
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Correctly interpret the customer needs and provide information to support bid activities; Satisfy customer requirements through technical and architectural proposals and ensure the best interests of the business are met.
- Good writing skills; Effective use of MS Office & MS Projects.
- Maintain and report on schedule and cost information; Lead the development team to meet the contractual requirements; Manage team and subcontractor work packages and statement of work.
- Write successful ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178 plans; Analyze and provide input for environmental and EMC/EMI requirements to teams and designers; Analyse results, provide recommendations, manage follow up and reports to completion of qualification activities.
- Knowledgeable in product development life cycle activities with documentation from requirement to V & V.
- Effectively lead all phases of a development program to produce a product that meets the customer requirements; Correctly interpret requirements, specifications and methodologies and translate the information into architectural plans, HW and SW development activities.
- Analyze and solve detected problems in a team setting; Manage report data and effectively translate information into a medium that is easily processed.
- Assume a lead position to review and to make technical and project decisions; Manage sub contractor work packages and SOW.
- Effectively managing reviews and meetings.
- Effectively manage the risk identification, assessment and mitigation process.
