With your support, the staff helps more than 12,000 people annually at 20 locations in Victoria, Saanich, and Langford. Cool Aid houses and supports more people who have been homeless in their community than any other organization on Vancouver Island.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Capital Assets, the Manager of Information Systems (IS) oversees developing technologies for future stability and growth. The Manager provides management, individualized program support, development services, and communication for the Society’s computer, server, and network architectures. Cool Aid requires IT services for its approximately 20 sites and 400+ employees.

The IT Manager is required to analyze, design, monitor, diagnose, and report on all information technologies to meet current and future needs, recommend, and create plans to meet day-to-day business requirements and forecast future business needs. This position is also responsible for the confidential administration of the Society’s personnel data, as well as the client data within the medical, dental, shelter, and pharmacy programs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Managing the IS team through developing job objectives, holding regular staff meetings, assigning and delegating work, and encouraging professional development.
  2. Leading hiring, recruitment, and retention of all related staff.
  3. Researching new system requirements.
  4. Providing advice, best practice, and costing considerations regarding new programs.
  5. Analyzing, designing, and deploying system networks in all departments.
  6. Installing and configuring components of software, hardware, and network peripherals, including system build of computers and servers.
  7. Monitoring and managing computer and system components, including server resources.
  8. Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving problems at computer, network, and server levels.
  9. Backing up, restoring, and managing on-site and off-site data storage of client, patient, and employee information.
  10. Evaluating user requests for new data elements and systems and communicates with programmers.

Qualifications

  1. Degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or related area.
  2. At least five years recent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  3. At least two years’ experience with the following: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Systems Analyst (MCSA), Industry Certified Systems Analyst (ICSA) or equivalent, and A+ Certification (hardware and operating systems).

Requirements

Complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.

Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clean driving abstract.

Job Information

  1. Salary: $101,462.40
  2. Work Location: Various Cool Aid Buildings across Victoria.

  5. Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week
  6. Union: Exempt.
