The Paper Excellence Group (PEG) is a fast growing sizable paper and forest product manufacturing company.Reporting to Chief Sustainability Officer, this Global Climate Strategy Leader will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's global climate strategy. This role will involve working closely with senior leadership, various departments, and external stakeholders to ensure the company meets its climate-related goals and commitments. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of climate science, policy, and business strategy, but also of operations on Pulp, Paper, Packaging and Forest Products, to be able to identify risks, opportunities and help the business units to define priorities, so that the Group can achieve significant change on climate aspects.We offer competitive pay.Main responsibilities:Develop and implement a comprehensive global climate strategy aligned with the PEG's sustainability goals.Identify and assess climate-related risks and opportunities for the business.Set ambitious, science-based targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving climate resilience.Responsible for identifying value creation opportunities as they relate to emerging technologies and non-traditional products.Be the main spokesperson on Climate Strategy for the Group and supporting our Communication’s team in gaining public support of this highly regualated industry.Lead special projects with economic advantages (Carbon strategy, biodiversity credits, biochar, biomass, green energy, etc).Engage with external stakeholders, such as industry groups, NGOs, and government bodies, to advocate for climate policies and initiatives.Prepare and present regular reports on climate strategy performance to the executive team and board of directors.Ensure compliance with relevant climate-related regulations and reporting standards.Stay abreast of the latest developments in climate science, technology, and policy.Build and lead a high-performing team of climate strategy professionals.
