Hill Knowlton Strategies Canada is looking for a Vice President to join its dynamic Consumer Marketing team in Toronto. This is an exciting opportunity to lead client files within the Consumer PR space, while also working alongside a passionate, engaged and growing national team.

Reporting to the General Manager in Toronto, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of integrated campaigns and account teams, with a focus on delivering client service excellence. You must have a passion for the consumer products industry and be on top of industry trends.

Here’s what you’d be doing:

  1. Build on your expertise and passion for consumer communications, bringing a unique view to ways of working both at a client and internal level.
  2. Serve as senior strategic counsel and client lead, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of clients’ business and develop strategy for implementing successful client programs.
  3. Provide strategic guidance to clients, anticipating needs and issues, troubleshooting problems as a fearless listener and counselor, and introducing clients to new capabilities.
  4. Independently manage and facilitate planning processes both proactively with clients, and as part of larger integrated agency teams.
  5. Provide support to the Regional Service Lead with day-to-day team management and new business opportunities.
  6. Take a leadership role in pursuing new business opportunities.
  7. Demonstrate and encourage creativity and innovation, both from a client service and team culture standpoint.
  8. Actively engage as a mentor and teacher for junior and intermediate team members, with a keen interest in helping to build and grow their skills.
  9. Demonstrate a passion for consumer brands by being on the pulse of what’s trending and understanding the implications for our clients.
  10. Have a positive and team-oriented spirit and genuine interest in continuing to build a passionate, motivated and engaged team.
  11. Oversee a team of 2-4 direct reports.
  12. Manage account financials and contribute to driving growth, ensuring team billability and account profitability.
  13. Effectively articulate ideas to clients, colleagues and others using your strong communication and presentation skills.

What you’ll need to get here:

  • You must have a minimum of 10-12 years of agency experience with a focus on consumer.
  • An excellent track record providing client counsel.
  • A proactive, engaged approach.
  • An affinity for mentoring staff and managing complex projects.
  • A proven entrepreneurial focus on business development with an ability to identify and develop business opportunities.
  • You should also have an exceptionally curious mind and deep understanding of consumer trends, media landscape, key influencers, and digital trends.
