Monthly Salary Range: MoveUp Group 12 with TMA, MIN $8,281.00 - MAX $9,935.00 is available through annual general wage/step increases.
Recruitment Range: MIN $8,281 – STEP 3 $9,196.
Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In exceptional cases, candidates may be hired above the recruitment range, provided agreement is reached with the Union.

What you'll be doing...
Reporting to the Supervisor, Technology Projects, the Senior Business Analyst’s role is to partner with the business to identify and prioritize business and solution requirements for technology projects. This role focuses on technology projects for operations, requiring a strong understanding of core functions within transit operations, such as maintenance and dispatch.

The Senior Business Analyst uses a variety of methods and techniques to interview stakeholders, translate business needs into user stories and requirements, and relay those requirements to technology teams and vendors. Our users rely on our business analyst team to make sense of technology and give them confidence that projects will deliver the desired business benefits.

The Senior Business Analyst manages the requirements throughout the project and, once solutions are delivered, develops testing strategies, writes test cases, supports user testing, and works with the project manager to confirm user acceptance.

This role is people-focused, relying on systems thinking, analysis skills, strong communication, and developing trusting relationships with colleagues throughout the organization. You should be able to make complex ideas simple, easily build relationships with people in multiple departments, work collaboratively with diverse team members, and propose recommendations to solve complex problems.

While this position does not have direct reports, as a senior member of the team, other business analysts will seek mentorship, guidance, and support from this role. As a newer team, we are also refining our processes and enhancing the maturity of our practices. The leadership team will rely on this role to help define best practices and identify improvement opportunities.

What you'll bring to the table...

  • Completion of a degree in Computer Science, Business, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent training & certification.
  • PMI membership (or membership with a recognized Project Management body) would be considered an asset.

We’ve also found people with the following past experience to be extremely successful:

  • Progressive experience throughout your career as a Business Analyst, with at least 2 years’ experience leading business analysis processes within a large organization as a Senior Business Analyst on IT projects.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and implementing Business Analysis methodologies, processes, and templates within your organization.
  • Knowledge of and experience working within project management principles as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated application of business analysis standards of practice as defined by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).
  • Experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
  • Ability to partner with the business to develop user stories and requirements, explain complex principles in common language, create process maps and user journey maps, and support testing activities.
