POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform CAE simulation activities (FEA) for E&FP product line: electric oil pumps, electric water pumps and thermal management systems and other group related innovation / development projects. Responsible to provide CAE support to design and development team to ensure accurate product evaluation and make recommendations for the product to meet performance specifications. Use analytical tools to determine root cause and design changes required to remedy premature failures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Systematic use of computer simulation early in the design process to prevent failure modes in products and assist in problem resolution.
  2. Apply engineering principles and simulation techniques to guide the creation of new and modification of existing product / concepts.
  3. Keep abreast of CAE technology trends in the automotive/powertrain industry for planning projects.
  4. Develop and deliver the internal and external presentations and interpretation of results for design reviews.
  5. Able to liaise with divisional personnel as required, performing proper interpretation of the Request for Analysis. Any ambiguities or unclear requests to be resolve before analysis is initiated
  6. Carry out analytical evaluation as requested by division and reports on appropriate timing
  7. Required to use engineering creativity to determine the best solution or methodical approach for assigned task
  8. Performs CAE (FEA simulations), including preparing the CAD model for correct modelling, use of simulation conditions, loads and other factors as required, together with analytical approach that provides clear result and recommendation to division
  9. Prepares CAE reports, providing suggestions and recommendations for design modifications in order to enhance the design of the product and obtains appropriate approvals prior to distribution
  10. Suggests the necessary testing, reviews of the results in order to verify CAE results, comments on outcome
  11. Maintains proper electronic filing system to ensure all information is properly stored and easily retrieved
  12. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  13. Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system.
  14. Follows and enforces the guidelines and rules as defined in the Employee Handbook and company policies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Related work experience: experience in powertrain systems preferred, working knowledge of FEA simulation software.
  2. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; a Master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred, with at least 5 years of relevant CAE experience.
  3. Must be able to communicate in both, written and verbal English
  4. Must be able to relate / communicate well with people at all levels
  5. Must have exceptional organizational skills, be a self-starter and team-player

Technical Skills Requirements

  1. Strong product development, planning and analytical skills.
  2. Experienced and proficient in the use of industry-standard CAE (FEA ) tools such as: Ansys Structural, fatigue analysis software ( FemFat, nCode), electronics design evaluation software ( Ansys Sherlock, Icepack)…
  3. The position requires a high level of technical skills and specialized knowledge. The individual must be capable of developing his own procedures and methodology for commonly occurring problems. All work must conform with all aspects ISO-9001
  4. Must possess strong knowledge of strength of materials and mechanics of solids, reliability and understanding of material mechanical properties.
  5. Knowledge of GD&T, design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembling, design for Serviceability, design of Experiments, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA)
  6. Ability to interact with Engineering Staff in Product Development and Testing departments
  7. Knowledge of ANSI, SAE, ISO-9001 and other industry/customer related standards
