Old Toronto, Canada Flow Capital Full time
Director of Fund Sales (Wholesaler) and Investor Relations

Part Time / Full Time

Flow Capital is seeking a fund wholesaler with strong relationships with Financial Advisors in the CIRO market to raise capital via our floating rate redeemable debentures, currently yielding 9.75 CAD and 11.33% USD.

Flow Capital Corp.

Flow Capital Corp. (www.flowcap.com) is a Toronto based publicly listed venture debt lender with approximately $65 million in AUM. We finance high growth companies in the US, the UK, and Canada to help them accelerate their growth without the dilutive effect of an equity issue or the difficulties associated with traditional lenders, such as banks. Our target market is high growth revenue generating businesses seeking $2 to $7 million in capital, mostly SaaS, technology, and technology enabled companies. We do not invest in real estate or extractive industries.

Since inception 2018, we have invested in 22 businesses and earned an annual portfolio level IRR of 26.4% to March 31, 2024.

Flow Capital is a public corporation, not a fund. In comparison to a traditional GP/LP structure our publicly traded common shares act like GP units, while our floating rate redeemable debentures act like LP units. The primary growth driver of our business is the increased sales of our debentures.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Business Development works as part of the financial team and will have national responsibility to increase sales of the company’s floating rate redeemable debentures by establishing and maintaining contact with institutional investors, independent portfolio managers, family offices, UHNW investors, and financial advisors.

We are looking for someone who has at least three years of experience as an outside wholesaler of alternative assets or credit products. The successful candidate will be expected to grow and manage a larger team as we scale our business. Although you may be part of a larger team currently, this position is suited for someone who wishes to have control and responsibility of the entire wholesaling process as well as joining senior management in deciding how to drive Flow Capital’s business forward.

Flow Capital offers an attractive compensation package for the right candidate. Thank you in advance for your interest in this opportunity. Please note that only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish regular contact with institutional investors, independent portfolio managers, family offices, and UHNW investors.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to deepen National Account relationships and expand platform approval beyond existing National Account relationships.
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1 meetings and presentations to communicate the attributes of Flow’s debentures and common shares.
  • Articulate Flow’s debenture and equity strategy crisply and effectively to investors and intermediaries, including describing new transaction activity, both verbally and in written format.
  • Effectively leverage senior management in the sales process.
  • Develop broad understanding of the private credit and venture debt markets and of Flow’s position within those markets.
  • Understand similar investment products and effectively position Flow Capital within that mix.
  • Actively engage with senior management in the formulation of key messaging to the market.
  • Identify new business opportunities and establish relationships accordingly.
  • Maintain and deepen investor and intermediary relationships through consistent and meaningful communication.
  • Respond to the specific needs of potential, new and existing Flow investors and intermediaries.
  • Provide senior management with investor and intermediary feedback, competitive intelligence, and sales ideas.
  • Develop, maintain and execute a business plan which includes trackable key performance indicators to achieve debenture sales objectives.
  • Represent Flow at industry and National Account events to grow awareness of Flow as an investment opportunity and as a provider of capital to high growth businesses.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in quarter end activities and communications to investors and intermediaries.
  • Plan and leverage the events of the Flow Capital Charitable Foundation to serve our investors and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • An experienced outside fund wholesaler of alternative or credit products with at least three years of experience and a demonstrated record of raising capital from CIRO financial advisors.
  • Understanding of investments, capital markets, and appropriate sales practices.
  • Excellent communication skills including both strong written and presentation abilities.
  • Technical skills and knowledge: CFA, CIM, or equivalent are all positives.
  • Commitment to continuous learning to enhance professional growth and effectiveness.
