Director of Technology & Innovation

Reports to : Head of School and Principal

Status : Full-Time Permanent

Position Summary: (This is a representative list of the general duties the Director of Technology and Innovation may be asked to perform and is not intended to be all-inclusive.)

·      Oversee the strategy and implementation of technology for the school
·    Implement, teach and facilitate Grades 1 - 8 STEAM-focused technology programs, including hands-on learning, laptop and iPad programs, robotics, coding, digital citizenship andproject-based learning
·      Keep up-to-date with industry best practices in technology and education; communicate and readily
share information with colleagues through professional development
·      Determine the software and hardware priorities as well as evaluate and recommend applications to be
used in the school on an ongoing basis
·      Maintain and purchase all hardware, including MacBooks, iMacs, iPads, SMART Boards etc. for all
faculty and students
·      Maintain all applications, software, digital resources and textbooks, licensing, and support
contacts while liaising and building relationships with a wide variety of
vendors and providers
·      Monitor digital safety and digital footprint for all students and staff on school devices through
device and content filters, password policies, and application use
·      Maintain the school network infrastructure and security, including WIFI and LAN devices, access points, and server
·      Contribute to the annual budgeting process, including multi-year financial requirements and
capital/operating budget oversight for IT program maintenance and development
across the school
·      Manage the school’s
online learning management system (Edsby), including all database updates, student and teacher use and report card system
·      Manage the school's Google Workspace for Education account for all users and groups
·      Oversee all technology-related policies, including Acceptable Use and Generative AI policy
for all users and all concerns related to privacy, cyber security and intrusion testing
·      Maintain and update the school website and work with the school’s web developers on Google Ad
campaigns and SEO optimization
·      Troubleshoot, investigate and solve user problems and errors for faculty, students and
parents; be available outside of school hours to address concerns promptly
·      Oversee school and building security systems, including camera systems, access control management
systems, fire alarm and intrusion monitoring systems; be a first point of contact to investigate and respond to issues outside of school hours
·      Provide tech support for school events and performances

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

·      5+ years of related IT Experience, preferably in a school setting
·      OCT certification and experience teaching in an elementary school setting is preferred
·      Fluent in Google Workspace, Apple, Adobe & Microsoft Office products
·      Experience with administering a Windows-based enterprise network
·      Experience with Apple School Manager and Meraki Systems Manager in the deployment of devices
·      Experience with Learning Management Systems, specifically Edsby, and ways to engage and inspire
students, teachers and parents in a shared and collaborative online learning environment
·      Experience with SMART Boards, robotics, VR, AR, coding, design-thinking and video game design
·      Experience with information technology in the education sector, including network and software administration is an asset
·      Experience with database administration and system management, including servers, access
points, switches, p.a. systems, network and cybersecurity infrastructure
·      Experience with content device filters and cyber-security to protect the school, students, staff and clients
·      Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
