You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers.This role involves conducting risk assessments, coordinating safety training, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows: Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations. Support the implementation of safety programs, including Lockout Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and ergonomic assessments. Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce risks. Monitor the effectiveness of hazard controls and adjust strategies as needed. Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions for employees and management. Develop training materials and maintain training records. Ensure that all employees are aware of their safety responsibilities and understand the company’s safety policies.Assist in investigating workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses. Prepare detailed reports on incidents and recommend preventive measures. Track and analyze safety data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.Participate in safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Maintain safety records and documentation as required by law.Assist in preparing for external audits and regulatory inspections. Support the development and maintenance of emergency response plans.Coordinate emergency drills and ensure all employees are trained on emergency procedures. Act as a point of contact during emergencies and coordinate the response. Promote a positive safety culture within the organization through communication, training, and recognition programs. Work with management and employees to foster a proactive approach to safety. Participate in safety committees and contribute to ongoing safety initiatives.Serve as a Fire Safety Team Member.Perform other assigned duties. Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.QualificationsDiploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in (industry, e.g., manufacturing, Automotive). Experience with safety programs such as Lockout Tagout (LOTO), hazard communication, and emergency response. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to conduct training and presentations effectively. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Working conditionsAlways work indoors.Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature.Occasional travel to different company locations may be required.Physical requirementsSitting involved.
