**Job purpose**

The H&S Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of health and safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

H&S coordinator should be well-versed in all OSH dictations. The associate’s work will be focused on prevention. The associate needs to be diligent and analytical. You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers.

This role involves conducting risk assessments, coordinating safety training, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:

- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations.
- Support the implementation of safety programs, including Lockout Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and ergonomic assessments.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce risks.
- Monitor the effectiveness of hazard controls and adjust strategies as needed.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions for employees and management.
- Develop training materials and maintain training records.
- Ensure that all employees are aware of their safety responsibilities and understand the company’s safety policies.
- Assist in investigating workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents and recommend preventive measures.
- Track and analyze safety data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain safety records and documentation as required by law.
- Assist in preparing for external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Support the development and maintenance of emergency response plans.
- Coordinate emergency drills and ensure all employees are trained on emergency procedures.
- Act as a point of contact during emergencies and coordinate the response.
- Promote a positive safety culture within the organization through communication, training, and recognition programs.
- Work with management and employees to foster a proactive approach to safety.
- Participate in safety committees and contribute to ongoing safety initiatives.
- Serve as a Fire Safety Team Member.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow ood anufacturing ractices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.

**Qualifications**
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in (industry, e.g., manufacturing, Automotive).
- Experience with safety programs such as Lockout Tagout (LOTO), hazard communication, and emergency response.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct training and presentations effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

**Working conditions**
- Always work indoors.
- Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature.
- Occasional travel to different company locations may be required.
