Senior Data Consultant, Decision Science

Location: Markham – Hybrid

Job Description

An important catalyst for continued maturity of the data-driven decision framework is a decision enabler. We are looking for a data analytics professional who has rich experience in enabling and driving decisions, and who has experience in transforming data ecosystems.

Accountabilities

  • Conduct data analysis and enable data-driven decisions on insurance analytic topics; Takes clients’ business questions, frames the data analysis to effectively answer client question, applies basic statistical concepts and descriptive statistics to understand and describe relationships in data, and draws appropriate conclusions from the results; translates data analytics to actional insights and enable business decisions
  • Formulate and implement strategies and the roadmap for data ecosystem modernization, including but not limited to operating model enhancement, process and journey enrichment, etc.
  • Work with various stakeholders to advance workstreams in the roadmap
  • Participate in areas closely related to the data ecosystem, including but not limited to privacy, artificial intelligence, etc.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as requested by the VP, including but not limited to ongoing planning and deliverables management

Qualifications

  • Strategic, innovative and transformational mindset; always looking for a better way of doing the same thing.
  • A consultant mindset; proven problem-solving and project management skills. Comfortable with working on never-before-seen challenges and building things that do not exist. We are looking for a “builder” instead of a “maintainer.”
  • Experience in navigating ambiguous situations; Ability to independently develop the structured plans and working relationships to move strategies forward; Demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to evolving needs and priorities while staying organized to deliver on initiatives of varying scopes
  • Strong knowledge of the data and analytics value chain and enablers of maturity (e.g., data governance and management, advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, insights delivery and business adoption)
  • Hands-on data analytics experience; highly proficient with data analytic languages such as SAS and SQL, and reporting platforms such as Tableau and/or PowerBI
  • Strong ability to be a “data storyteller” and always connect data to a business decisions; Excellent ability to create visualization and presentations
  • Strong communication skills facing an executive audience; Ability to influence stakeholders and lead without direct authority

Strong Assets

  • Understanding of P&C insurance
  • Prior people management experience
  • A professional designation in the financial, actuarial, or project management areas
  • Project management and change management experience
