Human Resources Manager

Scope of Position

Human Resource Manager to be responsible for developing and executing human resource/company policies and programs for the division/facility, including but not limited to; organizational planning, organizational development, recruitment, employee engagement, employee relations, compensation, benefits, safety, health, environment, employee services, and training. This position requires excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including excellent negotiation and conflict resolution competence, and the ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask.

Responsibilities:
  1. Human Resources: Direct supervision/management of all Human Resources Department employees.
  2. Employee Development, Performance, Recognition, and Retention
  3. Employee Recruitment and On-boarding
  4. Employee Succession Planning
  5. Compliance and Risk Management
  6. Compensation planning
  7. Benefits Plan development and administration
  8. Employee Relations support – including internal dispute resolution, disciplinary actions, counseling, exit interviews, and analysis
  9. Employee communications
  10. Policy and Guideline Development and Interpretation
  11. Creation and presenting employment agreements
  12. Labor Market Analysis and Wage/Benefits Surveys
  13. Data Collection and Reporting of Human Resources KPIs
  14. Responsible for providing Human Resources services to all levels of employees
  15. Set divisional Human Resources direction and provide support
  16. Coach and train management and supervision in all areas of human resources, including effective employee performance management, alignment and engagement of employees, and overall talent management
  17. Directly manage divisional human resources staff; liaise with other divisional and corporate departments (Human Resources, IT, Legal, and Finance)
  18. Serve as a member of the senior management team, actively participating in strategic and operational discussions
  19. Prepare a departmental operating budget annually and ensure adherence to it
  20. Continually seek and implement cost-cutting measures
  21. Support and encourage KAIZEN activities
  22. Solicit GEAR activities from staff to meet corporate goals
Health & Safety:

Along with the Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator:

  1. Leads the development of health, safety, and environmental strategies and objectives to meet future needs and growth opportunities of Division
  2. Develops and maintains health, safety programs, procedures, and policies based on new and existing regulations as well as sound safety methodology
  3. Participates in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of new programs and policies
Requirements:
  • 10 years of human resources experience with progressively people management roles, within an expanding manufacturing organization
  • Academic qualification with HR Designation and a Bachelor degree
  • Experienced in Health & Safety program implementation and management
  • Experience preferences include a background in management positions held in a very lean, fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Experience and knowledge implementing effective employee development, mentorship, and succession planning programs at all levels across the division
  • Effective communicator (verbal and written) with all levels within a division
  • High level of knowledge/experience in: resource planning, recruitment, medical/dental benefits, retirement plans, health, safety and environment requirements, and employee communications
  • Very good understanding of employment-related legal documents – ability to read/write employment contracts using a standard template, create immigration letters, etc.
  • Very good understanding of Provincial and Federal employment law
  • Ability to analyze and interpret human resources data obtained through HRIS
  • Ability to plan and implement employment-related changes (benefit changes, wage, bonus, policy, etc.)
  • Experience with Kaizen and continuous improvement including 5S activities an asset
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Team player, strategic thinker, and effective problem solver
  • Bias for action – reacts promptly to issues with appropriate actions/responses
  • Manages a wide variety of tasks – very adaptable and organizes/prioritizes well
  • Perceptive, responsible, and accountable
