About the OpportunityEcofor is currently seeking Archaeological Field Directors to join our team in Fort St. James, Fort St. John, and Prince George. This position will ideally start in August.
This is a full-time hourly position. The wage range is $35 – $42 per hour, depending on experience. The successful candidates must reside in or be willing to move to one of the locations mentioned above.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Field Director status in the Sub-Arctic Boreal, Interior Plateau, and/or Coastal culture areas.
- Supervising field crews, reviewing fieldwork, and coordinating with Project Managers.
- Leading field reconnaissance and conducting archaeological impact assessments for oil and gas, forestry, transportation, and other industries.
- Identifying and recording areas of archaeological potential and identifying archaeological sites.
- Collecting data, ensuring accuracy and quality of data, and completing data management.
- Writing and editing interim reports and site forms.
- Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment.
- Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture.
To qualify, you will need an undergraduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology and have the ability to be a Field Director for crews in one or more culture areas in BC.
Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered:
- Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow the business, and work closely with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations.
- Experience in Cultural Resource Management.
- Familiarity with the provincial heritage assessment regulatory environment in BC.
- Familiarity with mapping, pedestrian survey, subsurface testing, data collection and field note taking experience desired.
- Ability to conduct strenuous field work in a variety of field conditions.
- Experience with handheld GPS units, mapping software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe.
- Willingness to travel for work and stay in remote accommodations.
Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver’s License.
