We currently have an opportunity in our HR/Safety team for a Human Resources Generalist, based at our corporate office in Steinbach, MB.

Barkman has about team members across four provinces (MB/SK/AB/BC), and you will have the opportunity to personally connect, as an HR professional, with individuals at all levels of the organization. Focused on a high standard of internal customer service, the HR/Safety team plays a vital role in providing a people-focused work environment through our recruitment and onboarding practices, training and career development offerings, benefits and compensation programs, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Recruiting in coordination with others in HR from ad creation, posting, candidate selection, interviewing, hiring selection, and drafting terms of employment to be approved.

Onboarding new hires following the company’s onboarding pathing procedures, completing new hire forms and IT/Industrial training requests, scheduling Orientation, and assisting hiring manager with onboarding path as requested.

Partnering with HR/Safety team members to present at Orientations, policy rollouts, or training programs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels.

Comfortable talking to individuals and groups of people for interviews, orientation, training, and performance management.

Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Calendar, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Qualifications:

Required Education in Human Resource Management and/or Business Administration.

Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) candidate.

2+ years of experience in HR roles, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, and HR administration.

Assets:

Experience with manufacturing or construction recruitment and/or work environments.

Understanding or experience with benefits (group insurance, RRSP) and payroll administration.

Experience with workplace Health and Safety programs.

Working Conditions:

Wearing PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection when in production areas is required.

Location:

This role will work mostly out of our Steinbach facility. However, travel will be required to our Winnipeg facility and may include occasional travel to Alberta and BC. Spending dedicated time in both the office and in production is equally important to understanding the company’s functions, job roles, and the various work environments.

Conditions of Employment:

Flexibility with work schedule to accommodate interview times, training, and employee meetings.

Must hold a current driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving abstract/record.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
