The Nash Restaurant & Off Cut Bar in Calgary, Alberta is looking to hire for the position of Assistant Restaurant Manager. Looking to fill this role during the summer months as soon as a candidate is identified and hired.

The Nash is a 150-seat restaurant and bar located in historic Inglewood, the former downtown area of Calgary in the building which in the early 1900’s was the preeminent hotel for travellers to stay at. After decades of varied use, and subsequent slide as the economic fortunes of Calgary declined in the 1980’s the hotel eventually closed in the early 2000’s. The building was purchased in 2010 by a family who have a passion for restoring old structures and was brought up to a completely renovated state with new mechanical, electrical and a complete overhaul of the structure. It was offered to Michael Noble in 2013 as a possible site for his next restaurant, as he had opened NOtaBLE Restaurant in 2010 to much success and enjoyment by the Calgary dining public.

The Nash Restaurant & Off Cut Bar, designed by the award-winning Sarah Ward Interiors company, was opened in November of 2014 and has been a big success in the Calgary market hosting the dining public in a variety of ways over this past decade. We do intimate date nights, larger table celebrations, cocktail focussed experiences and complete restaurant buyouts for wedding celebrations, social and corporate events.

The position we are looking to fill is as assistant to the Restaurant Manager, running shifts whether it be opening or closing for a day’s service, interacting with hourly service and support Team to ensure their well-being and correct execution of our high level of service and supporting the rest of the Management Team with a high-level commitment to running a successful and profitable business.

We offer a lot of support through our corporate structure in providing the framework for financial reporting, payroll, and other HR functions so that our Management Team can focus on the daily operations of the business.

Ideally the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in other high-level environments in the hospitality industry where you have gained the basic knowledge and understanding of the commitment to successful hospitality. Wine and spirits knowledge is an advantage, but most of all a desire to create extremely enjoyable experiences for every guest which enters the front door is the foundational requirement which is most important.

Compensation is a blend of base salary, gratuity and a profit-based bonus structure which is clearly identified and historically supported within our business. A full benefit plan is available upon completion of the probationary period and an EAP offering is available immediately upon hire. Parking is also included in our hiring package.
