JOB TITLE: Project Innovation Manager DEPARTMENT: Operations

Location: Bracebridge, On. Job Type: Full-Time/Permanent

About the opportunity:

Reporting to the General Brewery Manager, the Project Innovation Manager (PIM) will be responsible for the successful and collaborative project management for the operations department with a diverse focus of innovation, packaging, equipment, and sustainability initiatives across the brewery. The PIM role will support the GM and leadership team by lead the planning, implementation, tracking of each project. You will be responsible for the escalation of projects concerns and reporting the financial impact of all operational commercialization projects and potential challenges.

The PIM will ensure projects remain in scope, within timeline and cost parameters by collaborating cross-functionally (Head Brewing and Innovation Manager, Purchasing Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Marketing Managers, Packaging Manager, and Senior Brewery Controller.

Responsibilities:

  • The PIM will be tasked with aiding to identify and removed the noise/roadblocks/issues from the process of Operations ideation to and execution and enables new capabilities & increase operational efficiencies through actionable insights, process change and/or technological advancement
  • Work closely with the Brewing, Sales and Marketing team leads on ideations and identify top priorities and opportunities in innovation (product and packaging). Work collaboratively to develop the business case and return on investment proposal for commercialization approvals.
  • Work with key project members to develop the project workback schedules and supporting the team through the commercialization process to ensure project objectives are delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Identify project constraints / resource requirements and escalate to General Brewery Manager to proactively anticipate and address project obstacles.
  • Work closely with the General Brewery Manager to evaluate the cost-benefit analysis on key operational capital expenditures and evaluate other operational external partnership opportunities.
  • Implement the project workback schedules and define the critical path, track and lead the cross-functional team in successfully progressing activities and ensuring project team members are meeting agreed upon deadlines and approvals.
  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring projects stay on schedule and to budget, by utilizing strong communication, collaboration and project management skills. Projects can range for innovation product launches to packaging innovation, to evaluating effective and efficient methods for operations including equipment and external partnerships.
  • Work with the Quality Manager and quality team to oversee the brewery's CFIA program and requirements of external commercial partner programs. Please note: this role will lead this program audit and management during the QA Managers leave.
  • Develop strong relationships across the cross-functional team, while holding team
  • accountable for their inputs and results.
  • Facilitate project team meetings, maintain meeting minutes, critical path status reports and work back schedules, risk identification and follow-ups with cross-functional team members to ensure progress in between team meetings.

What you will bring:

  • A university degree in industrial engineering (or similar) with technical knowledge and experience ideally in CPG or beverage manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with proven best-in-class Project Management skills with strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • 5 years of experience in TQM systems and Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Experience working and engaging with a cross-functional team (packaging, brewing/R&D, Quality, supply chain, finance, marketing and sales). Ability to work independently and excel as both a strong team player and project leader.
  • Proven track record of managing projects simultaneously while staying on schedule and within budget.
  • Experienced knowledge of regulatory bodies for food and beverage productions, CFIA, and safety.
  • Proven ability to motivate and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. Effective written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and budget management
  • Proficient with Project Management software (Monday.com) and MS Office programs.
