West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Manning Forest Products is currently recruiting for a Steam chief – 3rd Class Power Engineer.

Reporting to the Sawmill Superintendent, you will be responsible for the safe and optimum operation of the Manning Konus Energy plant and ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle – power plant).

You will:

  1. Provide leadership, direction and supervision to the Energy plant operating crew
  2. Manage safety, including orientation, training, worker observations, identifying and correcting safety hazards, accident and near-miss investigations, emergency protection systems and site audits
  3. Ensure optimum staffing levels and operation of the Energy and ORC plant
  4. Operate cost control
  5. Manage Contractors
  6. Control inventory of hog fuel, consumables and waste products
  7. Manage reliability, including monitoring oil analysis and vibration analysis reports. Plan and schedule maintenance and operator care rounds. Manage lubrication and spare parts.

You have:

  1. Proven leadership skills and experience
  2. A 3rd class power engineering certificate
  3. Industrial experience, preferably including Thermal oil and/or power generation
  4. Strong organizational and communication skills
  5. Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills
  6. Demonstrated problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  7. Desire to progress, learn, grow and succeed
  8. Knowledge of Pressure Equipment Integrity Management Program.

Candidates with strong supervisory experience without power engineering certification will also be considered, with the expectation that the appropriate certification will be obtained within a reasonable time frame.

  1. The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience and education.
