A brilliant role for a Finance Assistant to join a successful business in the insurance industry, based in central Malton. Working with the wider business, key responsibilities for the Finance Assistant will include:

  • Ensure smooth running of month end process including posting of month end reports, liaising with all departments to ensure contra’s have been cleared, pending transactions have been posted, and unallocated cash is at a minimum, plus any additional elements outlined by the Finance Manager..
  • Identifying debiting and payment errors, ensuring anomalies are reviewed and actioned by the relevant party.
  • Preparing and analysing reports for distribution throughout the business, as well as accurately compiling the data and presenting monthly.
  • Analysing the data for anomalies and highlighting these as part of the pack.
  • Collaborate with HR to accurately prepare Payroll including pension and benefit payments for employees, providing support to staff and liaising with the payroll bureau to resolve any queries and issues.
  • Oversee the recording of payments received from clients, including bank transfers, finance providers and card facility.
  • Providing support with issuing refunds to clients in line with compliance regulation and company processes.
  • Taking the lead on Credit Control, running and analysing the data creating reports to share with the wider business.
  • Monitoring debt percentages to ensure they remain within acceptable thresholds.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.
To be successful in this Finance Assistant role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular the use of Excel. Ideally you will also be experienced in Power BI
  • An AAT qualification or be working towards one, or have equivalent experience.
This role would be an excellent position for an Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Accounts Executive, Finance Officer, Finance Executive or Bookkeeper looking for a new opportunity.

Based in Malton, this role is commutable from Scarborough, Ampleforth, Amotherby, Pickering, Pocklington, York and surrounding areas, with parking provided. This role is also easily accessible via public transport, being based centrally in Malton.
