Pension Specialist (15 Month Term)

At HEB Manitoba, the goal of the Pension Department is to provide excellent service to all members, beneficiaries and stakeholders.

We are looking for highly-motivated Pension Specialists to help us deliver a positive experience to our members by providing pension information to address the members’ needs.

Reporting to the Manager, Plan Specialists, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive customer service in relation to pension via in-person appointments, telephone calls and online. You will also calculate and verify complex pension cases. Your role will include presenting pension seminars in group settings to discuss plan options and administrative practices.

Here’s the exciting journey:

In the first year you will:

  • Provide support to the team with the administration of our five pension and benefit plans. A pension and benefits background will help you manage the challenging learning curve. If you come from the financial industry, your strong mathematical aptitude and keen attention to detail will help you to excel in this role.
  • Become experienced with the many calculations performed within Pension Services.
  • Support the pension administration team in the timely and accurate completion of various processes within the Pension Department.
  • Begin meeting with members to provide information on their retirement options.

Requirements:

Your qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Math, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or Finance along with a commitment to continuing education in the pension and benefits fields.
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation (CEBS) and working towards the completion of the Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC).
  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience providing superior customer service in the pension field.
  • A working knowledge of the Pension Benefits Act, Manitoba and the Income Tax Act.
  • Superior verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills including problem solving and analytical thinking.
  • Committed team player.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Occasional travel within Manitoba may be required
