Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team We currently have an opening for an Assistant Category Manager. The purpose of this position is to clarify accountabilities and decision rights while establishing both behavioral expectations and metrics to ensure individual and team success.
Here’s where you’ll be focusing:- Accountable for the execution of product, placement, pricing, and promotion for items within their categories, consistent with each banner strategy.
- Respond to customer needs in their category and is responsible for developing and executing customer-relevant strategies.
- Review and analyze margins, deals, retail savings, pricing reference articles, forecasts, units of measure, cost, pages, and sales sets for accuracy.
- Work with the Category Manager to plan all promotional activity across various categories, including entering all promotions into the promotional tool.
- Communicate with the Replenishment Team regarding inventory management.
- Review competitive price checks and take appropriate action on weekly price change reports.
- Assist with the resolution of pricing issues.
- Review vendor submissions and new article listing reports.
- Work with the Food Experience Team and Customer Experience Team on new product launches, ensuring accuracy in nutritional information and stock on ingredients.
- Partner with the Replenishment Team on inventory management.
- Develop a deep understanding of designated categories, market trends, and consumer behaviors.
- Review the Agency Business report daily and review discrepancies with the Category Manager.
- Assist in ad creation and ad proofing processes.
- Respond to requests to meet customer needs.
- Identify opportunities and expedite category plans with operational support.
- Work with the Category Manager in the development and management of merchandising programs.
- Work with the Category Manager in managing the seasonal process.
- Ability to leverage technology (SAP, Microsoft Office suite, etc.) to review and analyze large volumes of data.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the business (oral and written).
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as individually.
- Ability to negotiate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience working in the retail industry; grocery industry preferred.
