Job Title: Assistant Category Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Category Manager to join our team at Sobeys Inc. As a key member of our corporate office, you will be responsible for executing product, placement, pricing, and promotion strategies for various categories, ensuring alignment with our banner strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute customer-relevant strategies to drive sales and revenue growth
  • Collaborate with the Category Manager to plan promotional activities across categories, including entering promotions into the promotional tool and analyzing margins, deals, and retail savings
  • Communicate with the Replenishment Team to ensure accurate inventory management
  • Review competitive price checks and take appropriate action on weekly price change reports
  • Assist with pricing issue resolution and review vendor submissions and new article listing reports
  • Partner with the Food Experience Team and Customer Experience Team on new product launches, ensuring accurate nutritional information and ingredient sourcing
  • Develop a deep understanding of designated categories, market trends, and consumer behaviors
  • Review Agency Business reports daily and identify discrepancies with the Category Manager
  • Assist in ad creation and ad proofing processes

Requirements:

  • Ability to leverage technology (SAP, Microsoft Office suite) to review and analyze large volumes of data
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of the business (oral and written)
  • Ability to work in a team environment and individually
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience working in the retail industry, with a preference for the grocery industry
