The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is a Treasury Board Crown Corporation responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor, and regulation of liquor, gaming and cannabis across the province. The Opportunity

SLGA is seeking a dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and collaborative leader who is committed to providing executive level leadership to the Corporate Services team. The Vice President (VP), Corporate Services provides strategic leadership to the corporate services function which includes financial management, procurement, information systems, human resources, employee health and safety, and strategy and business improvement.

As a member of the SLGA Executive Committee, the Vice President plays a key role in achieving the overall strategic direction and operational success of the organization. This includes fostering relationships between divisions through strong collaboration and effective communication, aligned with SLGA’s mission and values, and supporting a thriving workplace.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President, Corporate Services is responsible for, among others, the following core duties:

  • Work closely with SLGA’s Executive Committee and Senior Leadership Team to set and achieve SLGA’s strategic goals set for the next four years and into the future. Help to achieve SLGA strategic goals by supporting initiatives across SLGA and ensuring they are effectively managed and supported by all internal stakeholders
  • Provide strategic leadership and stewardship for the corporate services division ensuring that SLGA has effective and accountable financial, administrative, information technology, strategy and business improvement and human resources systems to support the organization in achieving its goals and objectives
  • Direct and lead the human resource and employee health and safety functions, including labour relations and the development of strategies and initiatives to achieve corporate goals; direct and lead strategies that will retain and attract employees and support professional growth and satisfaction
  • Direct and lead the development and monitoring of the annual financial plan and budget for SLGA to ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability, that the plan and budget are linked to the strategic initiatives of the corporate plan; and to meet Treasury Board and Provincial Auditor requirements
  • Oversee and direct the development and implementation of the annual division financial, human resource, information technology, and strategy and business improvement plans ensuring the achievement of related goals and objectives
  • Ensure that senior leadership is provided with accurate, timely, and relevant financial, human resources, strategy and business improvement, and information technology reporting and information that is meaningful to making decisions
  • Foster a positive, diverse, and inclusive work environment, organizational cohesiveness, effective performance and accountability through effective people leadership, corporate wide
  • Ensure that SLGA complies with current financial and employment legislation, accepted professional standards, policies, and procedures

Who we’re looking for:

This opportunity is for an experienced senior leader with a history of building strong teams and achieving results through working collaboratively. Our candidate of choice for this influential role will be a proactive leader who has:

  • Master’s degree in business administration/commerce, social sciences, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including a minimum of 7 years in senior leadership roles.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Professional accounting designation considered an asset.
  • Professional human resources credentials considered an asset.
  • Experience working with both the private and public sector, including working in a unionized environment considered an asset.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of administration, management, budgeting, and accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, emotional intelligence and business and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge of best practices in leadership
  • Strong emotional intelligence and maturity, and thrives on initiating, building, and encouraging authentic relationships inside and outside the organization
  • Experience in effectively assessing, selecting, developing, motivating, and leading employees to achieve high performance
  • Proven analytical skills including the ability to evaluate business processes, identify areas for improvement and develop solutions
  • Ability to problem solve, assess the impact of a proposed solution, communicate to senior leadership, and implement what’s best for the organization overall
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization as well as outside the organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and practices
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive—but able to recognize and support the organization's preferences and priorities as part of a collaborative senior leadership team
