Job Description

The Director of Operations is responsible for all operations for AIM recycling Feeder Yards in their dedicated region. The director of operations reports directly to the Vice President and will partner with executives at all levels and provides leadership and guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees to achieve the company’s objectives.

What you're responsible for:
  1. Participating and collaborating with the Vice President, in the development of the short, medium- and long-term strategic plan for the company.
  2. Developing the communication strategy and governance in collaboration with senior leadership and company operations and facilitate operational meetings.
  3. Evaluating potential risks and propose solutions, by creating internal procedures in line with operational needs.
  4. Participating in the development of operational projects and ensure their advancement.
  5. Ensuring organizational alignment with stakeholders.
  6. Actively supervising the services of experts under his/her supervision and ensure a service that meets expectations.
  7. Seeking constant improvement in costs and operating methods and take the necessary measures to achieve it.
  8. Promoting health and safety at work and a corporate culture that values customer service.
  9. Demonstrating dynamic and positive leadership in line with company values. Ensuring that all direct reports adopt a constructive and positive supervisory style to stimulate employee engagement and retention.
  10. Establishing operational standards and ensure performance goals are set and met.
  11. Enforcing the procedures, methods, quality standards and processes specific to the sector of activity.
  12. Representing the organization to the public, key stakeholders and business partners.
  13. Supporting the organization's strategic alliances and partnerships.
Qualifications

To Join our team:

Post-secondary education in engineering or operations management

University degree in a related field is an asset

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in operations and plant management roles in large, industrial companies in metal recycling, construction materials, rail, loading cars, shunting or other capital-intensive process industries.

  • A thorough knowledge of operations planning, maintenance of fixed and mobile assets, procurement, facilities management, and operations.
  • The ability to lead people positively and respectfully and get results through people.
  • Ability to plan and think strategically leading to problem analysis and resolution at a strategic and functional level.
  • Ability to create high performance teams and promote unity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An in-depth understanding of materials management and production scheduling.
  • The ability to manage and organize multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
