PURPOSE STATEMENT: The role of Assistant Pastor of Discipleship (Spiritual Formation) is to lead, grow, pastor and oversee adult discipleship for Lifecentre under the direction and leadership of the Lead Pastors. This will require an ‘all in’ approach to the mission, vision and values of Lifecentre, as well as a firm grasp of Lifecentre’s strategies and commitment to growing together with Jesus to make a difference in our city. Specifically, you will bring leadership to Lifecentre School of the Bible, Groups, and Heartstrong, along with assisting in pastoral care, including weddings and funerals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Given spiritual gifts of leadership and administration,
  • Minimum seven years experience in equivalent management experience or leading volunteer teams
  • Is currently (or willing to become) a member of Lifecentre
  • Currently holds ministerial credentials.
  • Possess Christ-like, servant attitude
  • Devoted to the call of God and the vision/mission/strategic approach of Lifecentre
  • Has a passion for Jesus, people and our city
  • Self-motivated leader and team builder
  • Highly organized and administrative
  • Possess excellent communication and writing skills
  • Able to execute and manage effective systems that help people become more like Jesus
  • Willing to learn new programs as needed

PRIMARY DUTY: To lead the discipleship/spiritual formation heart of The Life Centre Christian Fellowship Church. To fulfill our mission by cultivating, developing and growing a full spectrum discipleship ministry designed to engage the spiritually curious and challenge mature believers.

The Assistant Pastor of Discipleship main focus of responsibilities include:

Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of Lifecentre. The Assistant Pastor should represent a growing personal relationship with Jesus, model a strong relationship with their spouse and children and strive to fulfill his or her purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships and actions.

  • Committing to a daily quiet time with God
  • Participating in a Lifecentre small group regularly
  • Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity
  • Developing personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church
  • Modelling servanthood and generosity through time, talent and treasure
  • Adhering to and encompassing the qualities and characteristics required of Lifecentre employees, as defined by the Lifestyle Manual

2. Team Leadership
Responsible for championing Lifecentre’s mission, vision and discipleship strategy across all Locations while assisting the Lead/Campus Pastors in directional leadership and strategic planning initiatives. These objectives are accomplished by:

  • Oversight of Lifecentre School of the Bible
  • Oversight of Heartstrong
  • Oversight of Adult LifeGroups
  • Fulfilling pastoral duties (weddings, funerals, baptisms, child dedications, counselling, etc.) or other tasks to serve and pastor at Lifecentre.

Provides leadership to Campus Pastors of Lifecentre. The Assistant Pastor will build, lead, evaluate and mentor Pastors and volunteers in our discipleship ministries. Includes the following responsibilities:

  • Identify, recruit, and train leaders/teachers who will pastor the people of their LifeGroups.
  • Identify, recruit, and train leaders/teachers who will facilitate Heartstrong.
  • Identify, recruit, and train leaders/teachers who will teach courses in LSB.
  • Overseeing the training and development of lay leaders and teachers at Lifecentre.
  • Empowering staff and volunteer leaders to implement the discipleship ministry and operations of Lifecentre.
  • Providing coaching to the staff and volunteer leadership in the design and implementation of all church ministries, including periodically evaluating appropriate changes to organizational structure to reflect ministry strategy
