Reporting to the Manager of Spiritual & Religious Care and a member of an interdisciplinary team for palliative care. This position is assists at the daily liturgy, spiritual and religious support of residents, along with palliative care for the residents and support to their families.

**CORE DUTIES**:

- Support for daily liturgy - portering residents to and from Mass, supervising residents at Mass, assisting with the distribution of Holy Communion, readings and as needed at Mass.
- Palliative Care - attending to end of life residents and their families.
- General Pastoral Visitation - responsible for a portion of home as part of the department team. This includes friendly visiting as well as giving spiritual support to residents. The distribution of Holy Communion is also done regularly. There are also specific pastoral visits for those needing or requesting additional support. This sometimes comes through referrals or families.
- Other - attending and participating in meetings and training as required - including staff meetings and volunteer meetings.
- Entering (on interdisciplinary notes) ongoing and an annual assessment of pastoral needs for each resident.
- All other duties as assigned.

**EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT KNOWLEDGE**
- Practicing Catholic who is able to assist with the distribution of Holy Communion (both at Mass and to residents not able to come in person in their rooms.) Must have, or be able to be installed as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion by the Archdiocese of Ottawa.
- BA or equivalent, ideally a Theological Degree or equivalent

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Knowledge and appreciation for working in Catholic Health Care
- Ability to work with other professionals
- Organizational skills
- Strong people skills; ability to empathize with residents and families, possesses emotional and spiritual maturity when dealing with a crisis.
- A strong Catholic faith, along with an appreciation and willingness to serve those of different faiths, or no faith at all.
- Two years’ experience in a healthcare environment.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $26.63 per hour
