Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator Responsibilities:

You as a Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator will:

  1. Be responsible for site specific safety orientations and job site inspections.
  2. Organize and conduct training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Working At Heights, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid.
  3. Coordinate weekly safety audit summaries.
  4. Conduct and lead accident investigations when necessary.
  5. Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance with safety procedures and escalate issues to resolution.
  6. Review subcontractors’ pre-construction safety submittals.
  7. Review and file subcontractors’ weekly safety submittals.
  8. Effectively compile weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly project health and safety statistics.
  9. Identify potential hazards and direct rectification measures.
  10. Regulate work site activity in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  11. Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committees and proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations, taking necessary measures to rectify.
  12. Provide leadership for a best-in-class health and safety program.

Is this the right role for you?

You have:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of safety construction experience, preferably in mission-critical environments such as EV battery plants.
  • The ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
  • Worked towards or are already certified under the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations with experience working on a construction site.
  • Completed a college degree or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • The holder of or working toward a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate.
  • Experience with the COR Certification process would be an advantage.
