THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Human Resources to join our team in Calgary. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, People & Corporate, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing employee attraction, recruitment, workforce planning, employee development, learning, development, succession, and employee retention; culture, engagement, leader, and employee advising. This role will also partner with the Manager, Total Rewards & Corporate Governance to develop the strategic plans and execution activities for the Human Resources team. The Manager, Human Resources will have a team of 6 direct reports. A key requirement for the successful candidate will be the ability to build strong relationships, influence change, and develop and deliver key initiatives to the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, mentor, and lead a highly capable and respected HR team.
  • Create accountabilities amongst the HR team to provide proactive, accurate, and timely solutions for leaders and employees.
  • Clearly understand the long-term business plan of the organization and develop HR strategies to complement and achieve ARC’s business plans.
  • Play a key role in championing ARC’s unique culture through effective and supportive coaching and mentoring with leaders, employees, and direct reports.
  • Develop key initiatives and new service offerings. Key priority areas will include leadership development programs for existing and new leaders, aligning organizational performance management programs, aligning organizational succession and development programs, and evolving existing learning and development initiatives.
  • Understand the unique needs of our field and capital operations and develop specific strategies to support those needs.
  • Work in partnership with the Manager, Total Rewards & Corporate Governance to develop the annual priorities and accountabilities for the HR team.
  • Work in partnership with the Internal Communications team to communicate employee-related activities and HR initiatives and programs via the intranet, and to create a consistent and stronger connection with employees on culture and the ARC experience.
  • Develop current business processes and practices to help build innovative ways to improve efficiency and work towards sustained corporate success.
  • Maintain strong peer communication with the management team.
  • Advise and update the executive team of ongoing successes and challenges.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of broad-based practical Human Resources experience with a particular strength in leader advising and corporate initiative development and delivery combined with a university education.
  • The successful candidate will have 5+ years of proven leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to lead teams and execute strategic and day-to-day initiatives.
  • Outstanding relationship-building capability and a collaborative working style.
  • Strong team player with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business acumen - ability to understand business strategies/issues and capture opportunities.
  • Clear and precise presentation and communication skills.
  • Depth in corporate human resources knowledge and experience in visioning, developing, and practically executing corporate initiatives.
  • Results-focused with the ability to identify needs and develop initiatives to drive performance improvements.
  • Strong organizational skills and project management capabilities.
  • Able to deal effectively with ambiguity and demonstrate sound judgment in decision making.
  • Strength of character, integrity, and courage.
  • High level of energy and ability to excel in a flexible, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience within the energy sector would be an asset; however, candidates with other backgrounds will also be considered.
