Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the lead specialist for safety compliance for YYZ ground operations.
  • Ensures a daily presence in the work areas for safety inspections, audits, equipment inspections.
  • Ensures safety and quality audits are conducted, reviewed, and closed.
  • Conducts and/or assists in accident/incident investigations.
  • Reviews station employee injury trends and directs corrective action.
  • Conducts Risk Assessments as directed. Ensures that risk Assessments are completed at the station level.
  • Coordinates safety and quality promotion initiatives.
  • Provides Station Manager with periodic progress reports, audit schedules and assessments of safety and quality programs.
  • Support corporate compliance with applicable Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
  • Support employees and supervisors in undertaking the proactive and preventative measures necessary to achieve compliance with health and safety legislation as it applies to them.
  • Complete full investigations and reporting compliance to Sr. Management Team.
  • Report any breaches of statutory requirements or company best practice to management.
  • Participate in Safety audits daily and provide corrective action assistance to management.
  • Conduct risk assessments, accident investigations health and safety inspections as required by Station Manager or designate.
  • Provide new hire and annual recurrent training for all station personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with all government, customer and company policies/procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma with at least three years of experience in ramp/cargo operations.
  • Must possess or be able to possess a valid RAIC for YYZ Airport
  • Must possess or be able to possess a valid AVOP/DA for YYZ Airport
  • Experience in environmental, safety, industrial hygiene or related field preferred.
  • Formal OSHA or similar Safety Certification desired
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels, including program development and presentation skills. Must be able to work extended hours on short notice when required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word and presentation software programs.
  • Ability to plan and implement programs
  • Ability to drive safety van and truck from one work site to another as needed.
  • A working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
  • Understanding of the wider airport operational environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs when required.
  • Experience and understanding of the commercial issues in aviation.
  • Ability to travel for periods of time, occasional at short notice, both domestically and international.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays and days off if necessary.
  • Experience of Health and Safety management.

S'assure que les évaluations des risques sont effectuées au niveau de la station.• Coordonne les initiatives de promotion de la sécurité et de la qualité.• Fournit au gestionnaire de la station des rapports d'avancement périodiques, des calendriers d'audit et des évaluations des programmes de sécurité et de qualité.• Soutenir la conformité de l'entreprise avec les réglementations applicables en matière de gestion de la santé et de la sécurité au travail.• Soutenir les employés et les superviseurs dans la prise des mesures proactives et préventives nécessaires pour se conformer à la législation en matière de santé et de sécurité telle qu'elle s'applique à eux.• Effectuer des enquêtes complètes et signaler la conformité à l'équipe de direction principale.• Signalez toute violation des exigences légales ou des meilleures pratiques de l'entreprise à la direction.• Participer quotidiennement aux audits de sécurité et fournir une assistance en matière d'actions correctives à la direction.• Mener des évaluations des risques, des enquêtes sur les accidents, des inspections de santé et de sécurité, selon les exigences du gestionnaire de la gare ou de la personne désignée.• Offrir une formation aux nouvelles recrues et une formation périodique annuelle à tout le personnel de la station.• Maintenir la conformité avec toutes les politiques/procédures du gouvernement, des clients et de l'entreprise.• Effectuer d'autres tâches au besoin.Compétences requises :• Diplôme d'études secondaires avec au moins trois ans d'expérience dans les opérations de piste/cargaison.• Doit posséder ou être en mesure de posséder un CIZR valide pour l'aéroport YYZ• Doit posséder ou être en mesure de posséder un AVOP/DA valide pour l'aéroport YYZ• Expérience en environnement, sécurité, hygiène industrielle ou domaine connexe de préférence.• Certification formelle de sécurité OSHA ou similaire souhaitée• Capacité de communiquer efficacement verbalement et par écrit avec tous les niveaux, y compris les compétences en matière d'élaboration de programmes et de présentation.
