Aecon Nuclear currently is undertaking efforts to replace key components at the Darlington and Bruce Power plants as a part of each respective Life Extension Program to allow operation for another 40+ years. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, feeders, and steam generators as well as technical development, construction management, and trade labour.

Aecon Nuclear is also currently at the forefront of the next generation of Nuclear Power in Canada developing the construction plan and manufacturing details for the new SMR facility in Darlington, new build CANDU reactors among other exciting nuclear industry efforts.

What You'll Do Here
• Oversee technical aspects of projects and initiatives undertaken by the welding COE department
• Provide support with development of detailed, resource-loaded schedules
• Assist in developing, troubleshooting, designing, testing, and training with various types of welding processes and pieces of equipment
• Assist with Aecon Nuclear welding school activities and classes (theoretical and hands-on)
• Tracking the day-to-day operations within the COE welding facility with respect to deliverable obligations
• Support of contract proposal efforts and review of customer supplied technical data
• Assist with the set-up of project accounting systems and monitoring of project execution (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit)
• Generate project status reports for internal management and for customers as required
• Manage resource loading of COE welding equipment and personnel

What You Bring To The Team

• College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience, specifically mechanical, materials, mechatronics, welding & robotics and other such technical programs with an emphasis on welding.
• Minimum 2 years of industry welding or manufacturing experience
• Practical hands-on experience with manufacturing tools and welding is an asset
• Familiar with welding principles is preferred. (Basics of arc welding, types of welding etc.)
• Familiar with robotics or comparable semi-automated and mechanized machinery is an asset
• Previous design experience with tools, fixtures, and simple rigging is an asset
• Able to produce solid models and 2D manufacturing drawings in Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, or an equivalent CAD package
• Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
• Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees
• Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge
• Detail-oriented and passionate
• Must possess a valid G driver's license and have access to a vehicle
• Takes pride in work to strive for excellence and instill this mindset onto others
• A passion for welding is an asset
• Have a willingness to mentor and share knowledge
• Practices a strong safety culture
• Must have a positive attitude to develop and test new solutions to solve a variety of technical welding issues
• The ability to think “outside of the box” is an asset

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Willingness to want to continuously learn, try new approaches, experiment with new technologies and push the envelope related to welding, manufacturing, machinery, and tooling development
• Experience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project is an asset
• Ability to maintain active schedule tracking and resource management initiatives
• Applied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles an asset
• Applied knowledge of the "Earned Value" principles an asset
• Applied knowledge of cost engineering / cost control is an asset
• Experience with Hard Dollar/InEight and SAP ERP systems is an asset
