Powell Contracting,a division ofRSG International,was established in 1967. With over 50 years' experience, we are the industry leader in providing Ontario with the supply and installation of temporary concrete barriers, noise barriers, crash cushions, guide rails, ground mount signs, overhead signs, and sign structures. Our integrated solutions and project delivery strategies improve project timelines and processes, generating increased capabilities for projects including outfitting highways, transit systems, airports, and municipal contracts.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, theProject Manager will plan, oversee, budget and document all aspects of Powell awarded Contracts, (as individually assigned) from award through to Contract Completion. This role also requires management and oversight of one or more project coordinator(s). The responsibility of developing new staff, completing the project safely, on time and on budget is the main function of the project manager.

Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with various departments internally (accounting, operations, scheduling, safety etc.) to promote the successful execution and completion of Powell’s projects
  • Compile data, reports and forecasts regarding various aspects of the job (financial, safety, progress etc.)
  • Attend site meetings with various stakeholders, and ensure customer relationships are established and maintained
  • Ensure and oversee all operational requirements are met
  • Delegate and ensure completeness of all Project Kick-Off Requirements
  • Ensure regular check in and reviews with Project Coordinators
  • Ensure regular check in and update of progress of staff and projects to Contracts Manager
  • Attend operations meetings to ensure project work is scheduled and appropriate resources are secured
  • Ensure work is organized and executed in a safe and efficient manner that aligns with project estimates and requirements, including project milestones and completion dates
  • Ensure Project Coordinators are meeting required deadlines for submissions to Operations in order to successfully set up the work
  • Able to manage multiple projects of various sizes and complexity, concurrently
  • Ensure all Post Mobilization recordings by Project Coordinators are complete and accurate
  • Ensure all financial monthly obligations are met
  • Lead and manage all areas of opportunities and risk including Claims, EOT’s, Extras
  • Complete site investigations and safety assessments as required
  • Mentor, motivate and develop staff
  • Other duties as assigned and required
Qualifications
  • 5+ years' experience in the construction industry working as a Project Manager, Superintendent or Project Coordinator
  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Civil Technology/Engineering or Construction Technology considered astrong asset
  • Must have strong communication, time management, scheduling, and negotiations skills
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have a clean driving record and a valid G driver’s license
  • MS Office Suite knowledge an asset
  • Able to work evenings and weekends on an ad-hoc basis
  • Skills considered to be strong assets include Canadian Construction Labour Laws & Codes, previous experience in a project coordinator role, MTO project exposure, previous supervisory experience, Jonas Software exposure.
