Translator-reviser, Financial Translation, English to French, Global Wealth Management Linguistics Services

In accordance with the language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the selected individual must be able to communicate in English, in addition to French, as they will closely collaborate with other corporate groups primarily working in English.

As a key member of the Global Wealth Management Linguistic Services team, you will play an important role in our organization’s overall success. In your role, you will translate and revise high-profile financial documents. As a translator-reviser, you will translate and adapt high-visibility client-facing financial documents and internal communications, and ensure that translated materials align with brand standards through rigorous quality assurance. You’ll actively contribute to large-scale projects, leveraging your expertise to drive impactful outcomes for our clients and the organization.

Your quality work will contribute to safeguarding and promoting the brands of Scotia Wealth Management, Dynamic Funds, Scotia Funds, Jarislowsky Fraser, MD Financial Management, iTRADE, and others.

This is a 100% remote position, so you should be comfortable working in this context. It is also possible to work from one of our offices in Canada, as needed.

Is this the right role for you? In this role you will:
  1. Translate and adapt high-visibility client-facing financial documents as well as internal communications related to the operations of a wealth management organization.
  2. Ensure tone of voice and articulation are consistent with brand standards for translated materials through quality assurance.
  3. Review translations provided by internal translators and external suppliers.
  4. Give appropriate and constructive feedback to colleagues and foster peer learning.
  5. Edit French-only material.
  6. Proofread, edit and approve final versions (for print, Web, internal systems, etc.).
  7. Juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Maintain and use translation memories, terminology bases and style guides.
  9. Research relevant terminology and various other aspects which will lead to superior-quality translations.
  10. Liaise with clients to discuss any unclear points and escalate issues to the manager if needed.
  11. Ensure the highest quality of service to clients by ensuring that all service-level commitments are met or exceeded.
  12. Work in conjunction with other members of the department, particularly on team projects for large or time-sensitive jobs.
Do you have the requirements to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
  1. At least 10 years of relevant translation experience and 3 years of revision experience, preferably in the financial industry, in a corporate environment.
  2. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in translation.
  3. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  4. Complete fluency in (both written and oral) and excellent cultural knowledge of the source and target languages (Canadian English and Canadian and Québec French).
  5. Strong technology skills.
  6. Experience with computer-assisted translation and project management software.
  7. Ability to work effectively under pressure both independently and as part of a team.
  8. Adaptability skills.
While not essential, it would be an asset if you have:
  1. Financial education, such as the Canadian Securities Course (CSC).
  2. Experience working with Flowfit, memoQ and machine translation.

Working hours
  1. Working schedule can be negotiated (37.5 hours/week).
