Role Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist is accountable for administering the Collective Agreement and HR programs, policies, and procedures and for meeting the Plant’s staffing needs for hourly/salaried positions in support of business priorities. The position provides guidance and advice to employees and responds to a variety of Human Resources related questions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • In collaboration with Plant Manager, Manager, Human Resources, Director, Human Resources Operations, and other key stakeholders, develop annual HR plan that addresses key business objectives.
  • Track, analyze and report on key HR metrics and make recommendations on action, if required.
  • Leads the recruitment and selection processes for hourly/salaried employees in accordance with set standards. Including posting the positions, screen applications, interviewing, reference checks, preparation of offer letters, and conducting hourly new hire Orientations.
  • Administer the Collective Agreement interpretation and application and grievance process ensuring that employee-related issues are properly addressed and resolved.
  • Organize and attend Labour/Management Monthly meetings and distribution of minutes.

Qualification:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in HR functions
  • Comfortable in dealing with ambiguity; promoting ideas, developing plans and execution.
  • Experience in Labour Relations; grievance management; interpretation of collective agreement.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Kronos.
  • Driving licenses G2 or G required.

Working conditions:

  • This position typically operates in a generally agreeable work environment.

Dimensions (annual & approximate)

  • Approx. 300 employees (unionized and salaried; 2 locations).
  • This role is not Hybrid. Required to be in Plant 5 days a week.
